In the men's cross country event, hometown boy Wiens literally dusted the field en route to victory in the two-lap 42-mile race that featured more than 4,000 feet of climbing. With the victory, Wiens also moved into the overall CORPS lead with five races remaining. "Dave went off the front right away," said second-place finisher Jay Henry (Ionic). "Bryan Miller, Mark Gullickson), Rishi Grewal (Klein) and I all worked together to reel him in, but by the end of the fist lap, he already had 1:45 on us." Meanwhile, Grewal flatted near the end of the first lap and then rejoined the chase on the second lap, only to flat again. In the women's race, Alison Dunlap, fresh off the World Cup circuit, rode to victory in the 21-mile race. |
