January in the Vail Valley isn't the kindest of all riding months. Indeed, it's really not the best time of the year to hop on Interstate 70 and start packing in the road miles. However, the skiing has been pretty darn good. In fact, the nordic skiing is great. So that's pretty much what I've been doing - lot's of skate skiing and alpine skiing on the powder days. In between days on snow, I've been lifting (at least three days a week), and riding the rollers.

Speaking of riding the rollers, I watch a ton of TV while I'm spinning in the living room and there are some shows that you just can't watch why trying to balance on the barrels, including, snowboard halfpipe competitions. I almost fell about a dozen times watching ESPN's X Games. Downhill ski and mountain bike racing are also very hard to watch on rollers, because everytime they set up for a turn, you find yourself leaning into it with them.

Thank god they show Seinfeld re-runs every evening at 6:30. Nothing like a great 30 minute ride and a couple of laughs.
